If you are a young adult cancer survivor between the ages of 18 and 39, or if you have a friend or loved one who qualifies, Evanston-based non-profit organization TRUE NORTH TREKS may have an amazing opportunity for you. Would you like to hike in Montana, Oregon, or Alaska, just to name a few? Dr. David Victorson, founder and director of TRUE NORTH TREKS, invites cancer survivors from all over the US to take advantage of this incredible opportunity: reconnecting with nature, life, and the inner self, after the disconnecting experience of a life-threatening diagnosis, long hospitalization, and aggressive treatments. Dr. David Victorson and his wife, Dr. Gretchen Doninger, lead fabulous treks in breathtaking environments, away from civilization and surrounded by mountains, lakes, and natural beauty. They offer cancer survivors the chance to take control of their lives by practicing MINDFUL meditation, mindful eating, and mindful hiking. What do they exactly mean by MINDFULNESS? The focus of living in the moment for the moment itself, learning to enjoy every single facet of it as an inexhaustible source of life. This is a practice we should all learn, whether we are cancer survivors or not. Watch the video to find out much more, and see spectacular views of the hike that is waiting for you!
