Would you believe that daily physical education (P.E.) improves test scores AND reduces fighting among students?

Video by Clara Tomaz

Illinois mandates that students in kindergarten through high school have P.E. daily, yet this is not happening in many Chicago Public Schools. Taking the time to implement this can have far-reaching effects. Research is showing that P.E. is beneficial for students’ minds as well as their bodies. One study showed that students participating in a cardio fitness program were TWICE as likely to meet or exceed Illinois Standard Achievement Test requirements in reading and math than students who did not participate.

How can busy schools fit physical education into their schedules everyday? Watch our mini-documentary to see how some principals have supported daily P.E. in their schools, despite scheduling and budget constraints.
